Kaxinawá Indigenous Land of the Jordão River

UPASH – Novo Segredo

In the first three months of 2025, APOTI implemented one complete drinking water system with artesian well in the Novo Segredo village, in the Kaxinawá Indigenous Territory of the Rio Jordão.

The work included: consultation and alignment with the village community about the well (including the installation site), logistics and transportation of materials, drilling the ground, construction of the service station (support for water tanks, showers and taps), installation of two 3000L water tanks/each, installation of an industrial filter, installation of solar pumping (1320W panels) and piping of water to the central group of houses.

Novo Segredo is one of the furtherst villages of Rio Jordão, close to Peru borders. The population is currently 109 people, who now have access to better quality water, in addition to a reduced risk of accidents related to water transportation, which is usually done by women.
