Water – Shane Tatxa Kaya

The drinking water project in the Shanenawa village of Shane Tatxa Kaya has been completed, now providing good quality water to all village homes.

The work consisted of: expanding the water storage capacity of the central reservoir to 14,000L (with three new tanks and one old tank connected to the system), installing a combined filter with a chlorine dosing pump, automatically activated by programming, installing approximately 1500m of piping, constructing wooden structures in the houses for the 500L domestic water tanks, and a masonry structure to support the three central water tanks. This was the first concrete structure built by APOTI to support the reservoirs.

Materials considered to be of excellent quality and durability were used, such as iron faucets, a filter designed to filter even small amounts of iron, and a pump that injects the ideal amount of chlorine according to the characteristics of the well water revealed in the analysis.

Access to water is recognized by the UN as a fundamental human right.
